*That year, became first ice dancing team to medal at both of their Grand Prix assignments in their first year as seniors and the first U.S. ice dancing team to medal in their debut at the World Championships

SKATING NOTES

Began skating together in 2005 when Maia was 9 and Alex was 12 ... Former coaches include Kathy Bird, Slavka Kohout Button, Andy Stroukoff, Susie Kelley, Mary Marchiselli and Josh Babb (2003-05); Judy Blumberg, Patti Gottwein, Rich Griffin, Damon Allen, Erik Schulz and Christopher Dean (2005-2007); Marina Zoueva and Igor Shpilband (2007-2012) ... Began skating at ages 4 (Maia) and 7 (Alex) ... Grew up and first learned to skate in Old Greenwich, Conn.

PERSONAL NOTES

ShibSibs YouTube Channel (launched July 2012) has a growing collection of original videos which have been featured on television broadcasts and played in arenas in the U.S. and Japan ... It has garnered over 2.5 million views since its launch.

Maia was the recipient of the Women's Sports Foundation Travel & Training Grant in 2012 ... Together with Alex, supports The Jimmy Fund, Skating Friends Support Japan and THE ONE FUND.

Alex is a five-time winner of the Universal Sports "Tweet of the Week."
