IN OUR WORDS

If I wasn't a figure skater ... (Baker) I would be a hockey player.

I look up to ... (Hawayek) my parents and family for their dedication and support of my dreams and to my coaches for their hard work and dedication to our team. They have created a training environment that is so motivating and has allowed us to excel. And last, my training mates at the Detroit Skating Club for their camaraderie and their support. They encourage me to be the best that I can be and to have fun while working hard.

My figure skating hero is ... (Baker) Kurt Browning.

I manage my pre-skate jitters by ... (Hawayek ) doing a mediatation and visualization routine before every competition. I also have this great playlist of motivational music. I love watching the locker room speech that Herb Brooks gives in the movie Miracle. It has this great line in it - "You were born to be here. This is your time, not theirs, go out there and take it!"
... (Baker) remembering why I skate and to have as much fun as I can.

My favorite thing about performing is ... (Hawayek) having the opportunity to express so many different types of music. My programs have been very different from year to year and I love being able to feel the music and express it and to find a way to tell a story through it.

My hobbies are ... (Hawayek) drawing, dancing, singing, playing the piano and skiing.
... (Baker) working out, hanging out with friends, sleeping and playing volleyball.

Something most people don't know about me is ... (Baker) I put ketchup on almost everything I eat. I was born with a club foot.

The best moment of my figure skating career thus far was ... (Hawayek) representing Team USA at my first JGP in Romania.

My good luck charm is ... (Hawayek) a little stuffed sock monkey that my Uncle Mark gave me before my first JGP. I keep it in my skating bag and it has been to Romania and Estonia and all over the United States!
