IN OUR WORDS

If I wasn't a figure skater ... (Reiss) I would want to join the U.S. Marine Corps and serve my country.

My favorite thing about performing is ... (Pfund) the feeling of letting your body do what it knows how to do and the freedom of the sport. I love to just let the ice take me through my programs and feel the cool air swirling around me.

My hobbies are ... (Pfund) going to the beach and relaxing by the water. I also love to swim, read a good book and go shopping with friends.
... (Reiss) playing tennis with my coach. I like to play tennis because it is a different way to train the physical and mental aspects of an athlete. It also allows us to have a better relationship in and out of the rink. I like playing tennis because it builds my endurance and make me more explosive when I have to run for the ball. It is also a good source of mental training when you're down a set or two and you have to keep your cool so that you can come back. Tennis helps my skating in many way and that's why I i love to play it and watch it on TV. Living in California, I have also picked up surfing. Surfing is tons of fun, but is very tiring. I have a nine-foot board. It's tons of fun riding waves all day.

My superstitions are ... (Reiss) if we skate good in the short, I use the same socks and make sure the go on the same feet along with the bunga pads. I also make sure that I start with tying my left skate first.
