Jean-Luc started skating when he was 2 and was on and off the ice until he was 10, when he started taking the sport seriously ... Participated in the Basic Skills Program from 1997-98 ... Coached by his parents, Sharon and Steve ... Mother competed in ice dancing at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary, and his father competed in pairs at the World Junior Championships ... Skated with Nicole McClellan for one year ... Has a dog named Bobby and a cat named Be Nice ("long story") ... Volunteers at events at his club ...
