Cathy started skating at age five, Chris at seven ... They originally competed for the United States, winning the 2006 U.S. novice title, but chose to represent Japan beginning in the 2006-07 season ... Cathy was too old at the time of their win to compete as a junior internationally, so the Reeds accepted an offer to compete for Japan ... They are half-Japanese and hold dual American and Japanese citizenship ... They were formerly coached by Andrei Stroukoff and Susan Kelley ... They made their first trip to the world championships in 2008, when they finished 16th ... Cathy enjoys graphic design, reading, ceramics and arts; Chris' hobbies include computer games and reading.
