Khokhlova and Novitksi teamed up in October 2001 ... Khokhlova previously teamed up with Andrei Maximishin ... Novitski switched to ice dancing at age 13 because he could only land double jumps ... Khokhlova skated in a Moscow childrens' ice ballet until she was 13 ... She then wanted to go into pair skating and started practicing jumps, however, a coach suggested she should try ice dancing instead ... The team did not have a lot of immediate success, but they took a significant leap in the 2006-07 season, during which they made their first GP Final and their first podiums at Russian nationals and Europeans ... They are two-time (2008-09) Russian national champions and are the 2009 European champs.
