Kim is the first Korean figure skater to win an ISU championship (2006 World Junior championship), medal at an ISU championship (silver at the 2005 World Junior Championships) and win the World title, which she did in 2009, becoming the first woman to crack the 200-point barrier under the IJS in the process ... Has trained partially in Canada ... Brian Orser, her coach, is the 1984 and 1988 Olympic silver medalist.
