Chau began skating at age 7 after seeing figure skating on television ... Skates pairs with Tracy Tanovich, with whom he's won U.S. novice (2007) and junior (2009) titles ... What sets him apart from others is he does a lot of ballet ... His career-defining moment was skating back-to-back free skate programs in both pairs and men's at the 2009 U.S. Championships, and eventually winning the pairs competition... Broke his ankle shortly before the 2006 U.S. Championships but still competed, taking himself and his partner to a third-place finish in the novice division.
