IN MY WORDS

If I wasn't a figure skater ... I'd be some sort of athlete whether it was playing tennis or running. I would have always been an athlete.

I look up to ... Daisuke Takahashi (Japan). He is a chameleon, he has longevity and he is a sportsman.

My favorite thing about being a figure skater is ... the individuality of the sport. Nothing is like it, and nothing can mimic what it is like on the ice.

I manage my pre-skate jitters by ... listening to music and watching movies.

My favorite thing about performing is ... getting into a routine and doing what I do in practice but on a grand scale.

After I'm done skating, I want to ... sleep.

My hobby is ... watching movies, reading, cooking, working out, listening to music, photography, learning

The best moment of my skating career thus far was ... conquering inner demons at the 2012 U.S. Championships.

Something most people don't know about me is ... I am an efficient and experimental cook. I'm not an amazing chef, but I am a massive multi-tasker in the kitchen, and I can make some mean pancakes.

MY FAVORITES

Way to condition off ice: Running

Warm up music: Florence + The Machine

Thing to do on a day off: Day in bed with books, magazines and movies

Ways to relax: Beach in the summer

Books: Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl

Program of my career: I really enjoy my current “Swan Lake” free skate. It has surprised me in a way that I did not think I would ever be inspired by classical ballet.

Costume of my career: My “Stairway to Heaven” short program costume from 2008. It had this cool dragon down the leg and the short part of it was really light. I'm not it was kind of like a dark grey netting.

I PREFER
