(07/03/2012) - Since teaming in the summer of 2011, Caydee Denney and John Coughlin have made high, explosive triple twists and big throw jumps their signatures. The athletic duo won their first U.S. title together earlier this year and went on to win silver at the 2012 Four Continents Championships, before placing an impressive eighth in their worlds debut.

In their second season together, they aim to add even more polish to their already impressive programs. Their quest sent the Colorado Springs-based skaters to the Detroit Skating Club, where PSA Choreographer of the Year Pasquale Camerlengo choreographed their new free skate to Phantom of the Opera.

"We really admire what he had done with his ice dance teams, and other skaters," Coughlin said. "We talked about the ideas we want, how we want 'Caydee and John' to look and feel on the ice. We think he will be a great person to get us there."

As for Camerlengo, he's taking direct aim at ratcheting up the pair's on-ice chemistry.

"We're working on getting them to relate to each other more," said the coach and choreographer, who has created programs for Daisuke Takahashi, Alissa Czisny, Adam Rippon and others. "[POTA] is big music, and they're an exciting team that can skate big to match the music." What do you like most about living in the U.S.?
