U.S. qualifying season continues with sectionals

(11/15/2011) - The 2012 U.S. Figure Skating qualifying season continues Nov. 15-19 with the Eastern, Midwestern and Pacific Coast sectional figure skating championships.

Competitors participate in singles, pairs and ice dancing at five levels (juvenile, intermediate, novice, junior, senior). The top eight finishers in juvenile and intermediate pairs and ice dancing will compete at the 2012 U.S. Junior Championships, Dec. 10-14, 2011, in East Lansing, Mich. The top four finishers in novice, junior and senior from each division will compete at the 2012 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 22-29, 2012, in San Jose, Calif.

Several members of the 2011-12 U.S. Figure Skating team envelope are competing at the sectional championships, including Grand Prix Series competitor Caroline Zhang (Pacific Coast), newly formed ice dancing team Emily Samuelson and Todd Gilles (Pacific Coast) and U.S. collegiate champion Grant Hochstein (Midwestern).
