(10/26/2011) - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- The International Skating Union (ISU) today officially recognized and confirmed the first quadruple Lutz done in a sanctioned competition. On Sept. 16, 2011, Brandon Mroz (Broadmoor Skating Club) executed the jump during his free skate at the 2011 Colorado Springs Invitational, a U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned competition.

Mroz, who placed second over the weekend at the 2012 Southwestern Regional Figure Skating Championships, is set to make his international season debut at NHK Trophy, Nov. 11-13 in Sapporo, Japan.

Mroz is the second American man to be recognized as the first to perform a quad jump in competition. Timothy Goebel is credited with the first quad Salchow, which he performed at the 1998 Junior Grand Prix Final.
