(06/27/2011) - World champion Miki Ando will sit out the 2011-12 Grand Prix Season.

The Kyodo News Agency reported Sunday, that Ando requires more time to prepare her programs after the delayed start to this year's world championships.

Ando came from behind to beat favorite, Olympic champion Yu-Na Kim in Moscow.

Ando had a stellar 2010-11 season, besides winning the world title, she also skated away with gold at Four Continents, the Rostelecom Cup, the Cup of China and Japanese nationals.

In May, Kim announced she would sit out the 2011-12 Grand Prix season.
