(12/15/2010) - Colorado Springs, Colo. - Nearly 300 athletes will compete at the 2011 U.S. Junior Figure Skating Championships, Dec. 15-18, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The annual event crowns the U.S. champion in ladies, men's, pairs and ice dancing in the first two levels of the U.S. Figure Skating competitive structure, juvenile and intermediate. The remaining three levels-novice, junior and senior-will compete at the 2011 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Jan. 22-30 in Greensboro, N.C.

Singles skaters qualified for the U.S. Junior Championships by placing in the top four at one of nine regional championships held throughout the country earlier this fall. Pairs and ice dancing teams qualified by finishing in the top four at one of three sectional competitions held in November.

The 2011 U.S. Junior Championships will be held at the Salt Lake City Sports Complex, an official training facility of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. The facility features two Olympic-sized ice surfaces and a fitness center. County Ice Center, in Murray, Utah, and Acord Ice Center, in West Valley City, Utah, will host unofficial practices.

Qualifying rounds will be held Wednesday and Thursday, with the final rounds taking place Friday and Saturday.

Icenetwork.com will provide live coverage of all the intermediate events at the U.S. Junior Championships for Season Pass subscribers.
