(01/14/2010) - Obviously, we understand the importance of having flawless hair for this event! We both are debuting new hairdos in Spokane, and apparently, so is nearly every skater we've seen so far. Jonathan Cassar told us his hair was so long last week that he was wearing it in a ponytail, but he got it cut on Tuesday and is now showing a trimmed-up version. Evan Lysacek appeared at practice in a very becoming new 'do on Wednesday night. We much prefer his hair worn forward, and wavy, instead of slicked back. There's a picture in our blog gallery today, in case you missed it.

Unless you're Kate Moss or Johnny Weir, no one likes getting their picture taken after traveling. Unfortunately, however, when arriving at the host hotel, with no time to do your hair, or change your outfit, the daunting experience is a must, first thing. Drew managed to cheat and took a shower before he got his. Sarah had just walked over to the arena in the rain before her photo...not good!

Speaking of Johnny, we hear he nailed his credential pose, and even somehow convinced them to credential him as "Johnny GaGa Weir" -- and has in every competition this season.

Jenni and Todd
We found Todd Sand sitting in the stands between pair practices, and spent some time catching up. Sarah and Todd have known each other for a long time. He told us that when he got the call informing him that he and his wife Jenni Meno had been selected for the U.S. Figure Skating Hall of Fame that first thing he thought of was his mother, Doris, who died four years ago.

"She loved skating so much," he said. Sarah and Doris were good friends, and we miss her.

Todd was so moved both by the honor and by the memory of his mother that when he came home, Jenni took one look at his face and said, "What's wrong? Did something bad happen?"

Congratulation to both of them and to the other honorees.

Olympic champion count: 0

Number of pair skaters who did not wear black in practice on Wednesday: 4 (Tracy Tanovich and Michael Chau, Andrea Best and Trevor Young)

Interestingly, the only male skater who was wearing black in the first practice session was, naturally, Evan.

Rumors are flying that a certain pair team has gotten engaged. We hear that it is not, in fact, true. We'll try and talk to them and get the real scoop for you. We have to run and watch the men practice now, but we'll have plenty more news and dish coming soon!
