Miner withdraws from 2010 U.S. Championships

"I sprained it doing a triple Axel while I was running my program," he said. He and his coaches, Mark Mitchell and Peter Johansson, spent a week hoping it would heal in time for the competition, but they decided yesterday that he would have to withdraw.
"I'd been skating the best I had all season, with two triple axels in my program," said Miner, who won the bronze medal at the Junior Grand Prix Final last month. "It was just poor timing."
Miner regrets missing the championships, where he would have competed as a senior for the first time at a major competition.
"I'm disappointed that I won't be competing this year against Evan, Jeremy, Johnny, Ryan and Brandon," he said. "But I'm looking forward to the next time I compete."
He said that he'll be off the ice for a week and will resume training in two weeks.
"I wish everyone at nationals a great competition, and I'll see them soon," he added.
