ITNY has free summer shows at World Ice Arena
Emily Hughes, Sinead Kerr and John Kerr among special guests in August
Ice Theatre of New York ensemble members are joined by talented young skaters and guest artists in a show that is a treat for the local community these hot summer nights. So far, the Ice Theatre of New York Summer Youth Concert Series has been a huge success. Audience numbers are growing each week.
On Saturday, Aug. 8, 2006 Olympian and 2007 U.S. silver medalist Emily Hughes will join us for a special performance.
Aug. 15, 22 and 29 will feature performances by Scottish siblings Sinead Kerr and John Kerr, who are six-time British ice dance champions and the 2009 European bronze medalists; Allison Reed and Otar Japaridze, who have recently qualified to represent Georgia in the 2010 European and World Championships; and Angelina Kabysheva and Sergey Komolov, a young Russian ice dance team aspiring to make the 2010 Junior World Team.
Other featured guest artists this season will be Long Island siblings Danielle Gamelin and Alexander Gamelin, the 2009 intermediate dance champions.
The public is invited to stay to skate after the concerts. Admission is $8, and skate rental is $5. Sessions run till 9:50 p.m.

In the fall, ITNY will continue its premier education/outreach initiative, the New Works and Young Artists Series at the World Ice Arena. Featuring free concerts, on-ice clinics and in-school lessons, the series serves annually about 3,000 public school students (K-8) from Queens, as well as youths from Harlem and Washington Heights neighborhoods.
