(07/08/2009) - Michael Weiss of McLean, Va., will host his fifth annual Michael Weiss Foundation Ice Champions LIVE at The Kettler Capitals Iceplex on Saturday, Sept. 26, bringing stars of the figure skating world to Northern Virginia to perform and socialize in a weekend event.

Skaters include Brian Boitano, Todd Eldredge, Ilia Kulik, Jeffrey Buttle, Jennifer Robinson, Steven Cousins, Yuko Sato and many other Olympic, world and U.S. national champions. Some of the champions performing will be vying for a spot on the 2010 Olympic team which will be determined at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Spokane, Wash., in January of 2010.

Michael Weiss, three-time U.S. national champion and two-time Olympian is celebrating the fifth annual Michael Weiss Foundation's Ice Champions LIVE! Michael will bring the most famous faces in figure skating to Arlington to help raise money for his foundation to further the dreams of even more local child athletes.

This event is one like no other. Weiss twists like a tornado in the air landing in front of the on-ice seats. No where else can you experience the feel, the movement, the actual speed of these skaters as you can at this performance! Each skater brings something different to Weiss' events to give our Northern Virginia crowd an exciting, fun-filled program that has not been done except at this show!

The Michael Weiss Foundation (MWF) is a non-profit organization offering scholarships to these aspiring Olympiads and currently is sponsoring twenty three (23) recipients. Knowing first hand how much it takes to get an athlete to the Olympics, Michael gives children this opportunity through his scholarships so they can carry the torch for Olympics of the future. Establishing the Michael Weiss Foundation was Michael's way of further giving back to the sport that his given him so much.

In addition to the ice show, there will be a silent auction that features the skaters personal memorabilia. This silent auction also has hundreds of items both from the world figure skating community as well as local artists, jewelers', restaurants and much, much more.

The event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 5:00 pm at Kettler Capitals Iceplex, in Arlington, Va. Tickets are now on sale through and or by calling (866) 468-7630. Two levels of on-ice seating are available for the first time this year! Ticket prices range from $20-$50 with VIP opportunities -- meet and socialize with some of the biggest stars in skating with the VIP package. Proceeds from the ticket sales will go to figure skating scholarships to be awarded later this year.

Olympians from Canada, Great Britain, Japan and Italy as well as up-and-coming national competitors will join Michael to skate for his charity. Local favorites include Kristine Musademba and Armin Mahanoozadeh.
