(07/16/2008) - The stars for the 19th Annual Mariposa Skating Charity Gala just keep getting better and better!!

In 18 years we have not seen this much incredible talent all in one location!!! This is one event you do not want to miss!!

The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia, and the Mariposa School of Skating are pleased to present another amazing line-up of skating stars. The Gala will be held in Barrie, on Thursday, Aug. 7th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Barrie Molson Centre, Mapleview Drive in Barrie.

Doug Leigh, the founder of the Mariposa School of Skating, joined forces 19 years ago with the Rotary club of Barrie-Huronia and year after year has amazed the community by producing an evening of elegance and exquisite figure skating to raise funds for local charities. In doing so, the Mariposa Gala of Figure Skating has become one of Barrie's highest grossing charity events and a premier event on the figure skating calendar.

On March 22, Mariposa's very own Jeffrey Buttle brought home the Gold!! In Gothenburg, Sweden, the 25-year-old became Canada's first male world figure skating champion since Elvis Stojko in 1997. Jeffrey has played a key role in Mariposa Gala as we have watched him grow as he has accomplished many of his figure skating goals leading up to this wonderful achievement.

Also scheduled for this year are Olympic and World Figure Skating Champions:
Jamie Sale and David Pelletier!!

This is your chance to see these champions as well as many other past and future world and Olympic skating stars!!

The Mariposa Gala this year once again will be one of the premier charity events in Barrie, hosted by Kevin Frankish, Citytv Breakfast Television host; this event is the pinnacle of charity events in figure skating, and one of the most exciting ice shows anywhere. Figure skating enthusiasts are encouraged to buy their tickets early to ensure a seat at this fantastic event.

Funds raised at this event support the Rotary House and the future Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre. Rotary House will provide lodging facilities close to cancer treatment which is a valuable service for patients and their family members -- just ask any cancer patient who has had to endure long treks during one of the most difficult times in their lives. The lodge will be for patients, and their families, who live beyond 40 km from the treatment facility and will serve as a sanctuary -- a place for healing to begin and spirits to be built. The Rotary Club of Barrie-Huronia has supported the dream of families staying together during cancer treatment, and for those who come to the future Simcoe-Muskoka Regional Cancer Centre at Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie they will have the Rotary House, a lodge for cancer patients and their families.

Tickets are available at Ticketmaster online and in person at the Barrie Molson Centre.
Ticket pricing is $35.00 for adults; $20.00 for seniors and children under 12.

This is the best deal going for this caliber of event.
