Chan recognized

Canandian champion Patrick Chan is the recipient of the Asian of the Year Award in the sports and entertainment category. Chan, who was born in Ottawa, but now lives in Toronto, won his national championship in January, becoming, at age 17, the youngest skater to win the title. More >

Olympic broadcast holds some surprises

There will be surprises when the television networks announce the on-air talent for the Vancouver Winter Olympics of 2010. Figure-skating commentator Tracy Wilson will not be working for CTV's broadcast consortium, but instead will rejoin NBC's Olympic team. Former Olympians Jamie Salé and David Pelletier will play large roles in CTV's Olympic figure-skating coverage. More >

Skate Canada announced today that Mississauga, Ont. will host the 2009 and 2010 BMO Skate Canada Western and Eastern Challenge events. The Hershey Centre will play host to both the 2009 event that will take place Dec. 3-7, 2008 and the 2010 event that will take place from Dec. 2-6, 2009. More >

Quiz the athletes

Test the Nation: Sports is a quiz trivia show that will air on CBC Television on May 25, 2008 at 8 PM (EST). The show will feature current World Figure Skating Champion Jeff Buttle and Olympians Elizabeth Manley and Elvis Stojko.

The three skaters will all be playing for the Olympic Medallists team. There are a total of seven different teams participating: Sportscasters, Armchair Athletes, Olympic Medallists, Mascots and Cheerleaders, Referees and Umpires, and Team Extreme. More >
