"We're both about 70 percent right now," Petukhov said. "I'm still suffering from pain and swelling in my knee and hip. Melissa's hip and ribs are also still badly bruised and tender."
The Cup of Russia will take place Nov. 23-25 at the Khodynka Ice Palace in Moscow, Russia. Gregory and Petukhov competed at the event once previously, finishing fourth in 2005.
"We're very disappointed not to be able to go and compete in Russia," Gregory said. "It's always a pleasure to skate and compete in Denis' home country."
The six-time U.S. medalists placed sixth at last year's Grand Prix Final, following a bronze at the NHK Trophy and a silver at Skate America. The next scheduled competition for the team will be the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Saint Paul, Minn., Jan. 20-27.
"Yes, undoubtedly we will be there," Gregory said. "We're excited to perform our new programs and show we have worked this season and how much we love to perform. It's also extra special for us to have our first competition back to be in our home country."
