Two-time U.S. champion Gracie Gold announced Friday that she will not participate in the 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships as she continues to receive professional treatment for matters taking place away from the ice.

Gold, who won U.S. titles in 2014 and 2016, previously withdrew from her 2017 Grand Prix assignments (Cup of China, Internationaux de France) in October. The 22-year-old said she is deeply saddened to miss a competition where she's enjoyed tremendous success over the years.

"It breaks my heart to withdraw from the 2018 U.S. Championships," Gold said in a statement released Friday. "I am still undergoing treatment for depression, anxiety and an eating disorder. I have not had adequate training time in order to perform at the level at which I want to. It pains me to not compete in this Olympic season, but I know it's for the best. I wish everyone the best of luck and will be cheering you all on. I want to thank everyone for the ongoing love and support. It means the world to me."

The 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships will take place Dec. 29, 2017-Jan. 7, 2018 in San Jose, California.
