KOSÉ Team Challenge Cup set to debut in Spokane

First-of-its-kind competition to feature 42 skaters, multiple world medalists

The 2016 KOSÉ Team Challenge Cup is set to take place April 22-24 at Spokane Arena in Spokane, Washington, and will feature 42 figure skaters competing in a continental team competition (Team Asia vs. Team Europe vs. Team North America).

Each team will consist of three ladies, three men, two pairs teams and two ice dance teams. The field includes 2016 world champions Evgenia Medvedeva (Russia, Team Europe) and pairs team Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford (Canada, Team North America).

Each squad will have a team captain to help determine a strategy for the competition. American Kristi Yamaguchi, the 1992 Olympic champion, will captain Team North America. Great Britain's Christopher Dean, the 1984 Olympic ice dance champion with partner Jayne Torvill, will captain Team Europe. Japan's Shizuka Arakawa, the 2006 Olympic champion, will captain Team Asia.

The Team Challenge Cup will feature two days of competition, opening Friday night with the ladies and men's short programs, which will feature head-to-head matchups for more than $100,000 in prize money. Saturday's competition will feature all disciplines skating under an aggregate scoring format to determine the 2016 Team Challenge Cup winner with nearly $500,000 at stake for a total prize purse of $617,000.

Icenetwork's broadcast team will be led by Mike Mancuso, who will handle the play-by-play duties. Charlie White, Michael Weiss, John Coughlin and Tonia Kwiatkowski will also be in the booth.

In addition, icenetwork will provide free behind-the-scenes video to all registered users beginning Thursday, April 21. This coverage will include live segments from the icenetwork ICE Desk, interviews, press conferences and more. Coughlin will serve as host of the ICE Desk, where he will be joined by White, Weiss, seven-time British ice dance champion Sinead Kerr and special guests throughout the week. Icenetwork will provide live coverage of the red carpet show Thursday, April 21, from the Northern Quest Casino & Resort beginning at 8 p.m. ET. Later that night, beginning at 10:30 p.m. ET, icenetwork will stream coverage of the team introductions and matchup announcements.
