Polina Edmunds withdrew from the 2016 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships, the skater announced Friday on Twitter.

Edmunds, who won gold at the event a year ago, cited "a lack of time to break in my new skates" as the reason for the decision.

The two-time U.S. silver medalist said her focus is on competing at the 2016 World Figure Skating Championships in Boston.

U.S. Figure Skating announced that Karen Chen will take Edmunds' place at Four Continents.
